Sunday Photo Challenge

The idea of these photo challenges is that you are supposed to take one photo per hour to tell a story about your day. Well, I didn't exactly take one photo per hour (vacuuming and doing laundry didn't seem worthy of photos) but here's a photo tour of my Sunday.

Breakfast! Berries, grapefruit, kefir and granola.

Finish up a post for Jackie Times on Tumblr.

Set out fresh dandelion greens and water for Crusader.

Pick out an outfit for the day. This one is perfect for work and play, plus I can wear my dance gear underneath.

Go for a walk to Madison Square Park to check out Rachel Feinstein's installations.

Dance it out in ballet class at Alvin Ailey!

Head into work and spend some time in MoMA Studio: Breathe with Me to conduct observations...and respond to a few prompts during the lulls.

Pack up and take home the ceramics I made in Allison Smith: American Pre-Modern class a couple months ago.

Check out all the Tony Awards action at Radio City Music Hall.

Stop in at the Amish Market along Ninth Avenue for some kiwi (5 for $2!).

Enjoy a refreshing slice of watermelon. Yum!

A little ballet practice.

Book + a big mug of tea

Well, that's my Sunday. Hope everyone had a good weekend!

That One Nice Weekend in Februrary

Looking at the photos I took last weekend I'm feeling really wistful. Winter gave us all a little preview of spring and for two days I almost believed spring had arrived. Of course, Monday rolled around and we were back to wintery weather. Unfortunately, this weekend will be nothing like last. I'm glad I got a chance to explore Ivan Navarro's installation in Madison Square Park while the weather was nice. I think this weekend I'll be spending more time indoors, checking out some exhibitions I haven't yet had a chance to see.

Orly Genger: Red, Yellow, and Blue

Seems like I arrived back in NYC just as the heat wave ended which I am definitely thankful for. My mom’s birthday is today and she happens to be in town visiting so we strolled around the city, played a game of checkers in Bryant Park, hung out in Madison Square Park, did some window shopping and enjoyed a nice lunch outside.   I love leisurely spent Sundays, where there’s nothing in particular that needs to be done (or at least ‘to do’ things I feel that can be temporarily ignored) except to enjoy some time outside.
Madison Square Park is an especially pleasant spot to enjoy a Sunday morning in the summer.  And I think of all the art installations I’ve seen in the park so far Orly Genger: Red, Yellow, and Blue is my favorite. I love seeing the woven primary colors winding through the park, peeking out from behind trees, meandering across the lawn in unexpected ways. The squirrels and birds in the park seem to get a kick out of this installation too.
